The authors opinion on the film
Rip! A Remix Manifesto was how copying original work could get you fired, or even jail time for such actions.
I think it's ridiculous that people are being sewed thousands of dollars for downloading one song. Companies are gaining so much money from this all I see is greed for more money. They gain so much profit when music is released and everything else. I guess they feel powerful enough to rule the world, and crush everyone beneath them.
Our society is becoming less and less free, explained in the movie. Companies are discovering that with enough money and power, they'll control the public with there rules and regulations to everything in this world. It's quite scary when thought about. Everything new like the internet, all have these ways that we should follow all be told what to do. Repeating over and over the same thing to the next person, like a mouse running on a wheel.
Another Problem is you cant take a single song or audio and be able to use it for your own creativity. You can't take a kick drum rhythm from another song and mash it up for your own liking? How can we experiment and learn new ideas if we don't expect music studio companies dropping off a letter saying your stealing original music.
Remix A Manifesto also demonstrates that featuring work from others was encouraged for people to create, not to stop. Like Led Zeppelins song “Whole Lotta Love, They encouraged people to create mash ups and to experiment with different types of music.
I totally disagree when large studio companies are ''copy righting'' material that is to be never used in any personal use. Like said in the movie, '
'Your taking something that it was, and turning it into something its not''
